AAFA NOTES: SSDI records confirm the birth and death dates of Thelma A. McGeorge (SS# issued in TX), last residence Spring, Harris Co., TX.

We included the obituary of her twin brother Elmer Adron Alford, AAFA #0608, in Texas Obituaries.

Detailed information on their Alford ancestry was included with Elmer’s “In Remembrance” article in AAFA ACTION, Spring 1999.

Elmer and Thelma attended AAFA’s 1993 meeting in St. Francisville, LA, and were celebrating their 77th birthday later that month. Unknown to them, Gil Alford obtained from their children several funny and interesting stories from their childhood that he told after the Saturday night dinner. At first they didn’t know who he was talking about, but when they figured it out and Gil identified them, wishing them a happy birthday, they had tears in their eyes. We missed seeing them at future meetings, which they could not attend because of Elmer’s wife Willie Jean’s health.
