AAFA Wills
WILL OF LODOWICH ALFORD
In the name of God Amen This 1st day of December One thousand eight hundred
and thirteen I Lodowich Alford of the
County of Wayne and State of North Carolina Being sick of body, but of sound
mind and memory, do make this my last will
and testament, at the same time utterly Revoking all former wills made by me,
declaring this to be my last will and testament.
First I desire that my land on Buck Swamp and the land which is called the
Raiford land and also the upper Jonston land and
the lower Jonston land to be sold, I desire no other right to be given to my
Lower Jonston Land than from me and my heirs or
assigns. 2nd I desire that my steed horse should be sold and all the rest of
my horses, also my oxen and the rest of my cattle of
all description also all of my fat hoggs except what is given for my widow's
year's support, sows and pigs and all other out/our?
hoggs to be sold also and all of my plantation tools household and kitchen furniture
and all other property that has not been
heretofore exposed of to be sold,
except the smithwick land and my negroes. I desire that all which is justly
due me to be collected as soon as possible and all my
just debts paid by my executors.
First I lend to my dearly beloved wife Polley Alford all of my smithwick lands
during her natural lifetime or widowhood, and
after her lifetime or widowhood, to be equally divided among all of my children,
also I lend to my wife my negroe and his wife
and all of his children and his mother during her life time or widowhood And
after her lifetime or widowhood to be equally
divided amongst all my children except the use of my negro girl lany, I lend
to my wife her lifetime, She and her increas (sic) and
after my wife's lifetime to be equally divided amongst my heirs. lastly, if
what property that is left to be sold is not sufficient to
satisfy all my just debts, I
desire that there should be enough disposed of to pay all my just debts in
any way that my executors shall think properly. I
desire that what property that I have which is in Benjamin Alfords Sr's hands
should be given to Elizabeth Bunting Daughter of
the said Benja
Alfords wife who was formerly Lucretia Edwards. I desire that the land which
I have entered on Nauhunty swamp joining of
Samuel Perkins and Wm Musgrove land should be so managed as not to injure me
nor my heirs, but to be for the use of
Nathan Pike and his heirs. At the same time I do appoint Mr. Nathan Pike and
Mr. John Dunn of the county and state
aforesaid joint execrs of this my last will and testament to which I have hereunto
set my hand and seal the day and year above
written, enterlined (?) before assigned.
