Starkville, Oktibbeha Co., MS‑ Sunday, 9 November 2008

 

EUPORA—Services for H.L. “Hop” Alford will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2008, at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Marvin Hill Cemetery in Webster County with Wise Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

            Mr. Alford, 75, of Maben, died Friday, November 7, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a retired B&W steelworker.

            He was a member of Midway Church of Christ in Maben. He was a U.S. Army veteran

            Survivors include his daughter, Beth Murchie of New Hope; his sons, Ken Alford of Starkville, and Johnny Alford of Cumberland; his brothers, Ruble Alford of Pheba, James M. Alford of Ackerman, and Billy E. Alford of Sherwood; and 10 grandchildren.

MABEN [Webster Co.]—H.L. “Hop” Alford, 75, died Nov. 7, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Cumberland. He was a retired steelworker from B&W and a member of Midway Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a devoted East Webster Wolverine fan. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, whittler and a bluegrass music lover.

            Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Wise Funeral Home. Burial will be in Marvin Hill Cemetery in Webster County. Wise Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of arrangements.

            Survivors include one daughter, Beth Murchie (Frank) of New Hope; two sons, Ken Alford (Joanna) of Starkville and Johnny Alford (Anna Marie) of Cumberland; three brothers, Ruble Alford of Pheobea, James M. Alford of Ackerman and Billy E. Alford of Sherwood; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends....
