AAFA Site Updates -- 2012 AAFA HAS COMPLETED 25 YEARS!
WE ARE CELEBRATING THE ANNIVERSARY
For links to 2011 and prior year updates please jump to the end of this file. (Control-End for most of you)
As new information or new pages are added, they will be listed below.
In most cases you will have the option to see the "whole thing" or just the updated page. Watch for the SEE ALL links to get to the whole section. Efforts continue to improve navigation and data display. Unless new data is added this activity will not be memtioned in weekly updates.
ANCESTOR PAGES SEE ALL
We have not done much here with these ancestor pages before, but Gil Alford has been working, offline, on his grandfather Jeptha Alfords page. Although there is still much to add we are now sharing here. Lynn Shelley had questions today that suggested we needed to open a page for Rev. Needham J. Alford, uncle of the above Jeptha. While it is here now there is practically nothing on his page. We do have a wealth of information about him and his descendants and will try to add something weekly. If you have an ancestor or know of an ancestor who should be represented here just let us know.
FLORIDA NEW!!
This 300+ page compilation includes all the Florida obituaries that AAFA currently has.
Only two states are not posted yet: Alabama and Tennessee. Both very large so unless you want to help, it will be a while!
WASHINGTON Updated
This 90 page compilation includes most of the Washington obituaries that AAFA currently has. Lots of ALVORDS here!
A number of old obituaries from Washington need to be typed so they can be added to this compilation.
Let us know if you want to volunteer to type them.
WEEK OF FEBRUARY 19
OUR HISTORY
From 2003 through 2008 some AAFA ACTION issues contained a segment on "Our History" by Gil Alford. They went back to his beginnings with "Alford" in 1982 and introduced those who joined with him in what would become his "About Alfords" newsletters and later become the AAFA. The last two segments published were never posted to this site, but they were just added.
TO SEEthe last segment which includes a summary listing his first 106 contacts of which most (56) later joined AAFA.
RESEARCH
Milt Folds, AAFA #0049, Hall of Fame, has been doing some special research as indicated by the two reports listed below. These will be included in future issues of AAFA ACTION.
