            A Drama Entitled “The Life and Times of Norman W. Alford” opened on March 31, 1923 and closed on January 12, 1997.

            He leaves behind his longtime companion, Stanley J. Nestlerode, and a supporting cast of loving friends, including Barbara Runge and Rusty Howard of Houston, his aunt, Pearl Nix Albritton of Mississippi, and many others.

            Norman’s parents, Maie Norman Alford and Garland W. Alford predeceased him.

            During his 73 years, Norman played many roles: U.S. Army Staff Sergeant serving in India during World War II; student at University of Houston; Vice President of Computer Concepts, Inc.; owner of Alford Antiques; Office Manager for Law Offices of Barbara Runge. Norman especially enjoyed his years of traveling the U.S. while selling his antique glass collection. A member of Prime Timers, Norman loved theater, music, antiques, and the arts.

            A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Central Presbyterian Church at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 1997. Burial will be in Monticello, Mississippi.

            In lieu of flowers, donations maybe mailed to The Central Presbyterian Church—Flower Fund, 3788 Richmond, Houston, Texas 77027.

 

AAFA NOTES: SSDI records confirm the birth date of Norman W. Alford (SS# issued in MS), but his death date is listed as 15 February 1997, last residence Houston, Harris Co., TX.
