AAFA NOTES: SSDI records show that James R. Alford (SS#
issued in MO) was born 5 Dec 1933, last residence Marthasville, Warren Co., MO.
We published the obituary of his brother Jack
Chester Alford (born 1931) in the Summer 2006 issue of AAFA ACTION. In Jack’s
obituary, his parents were identified as Fred and Vanburin Tinsley Catiller.
When he joined AAFA, James identified his
parents as Buford Franklin Alford, born about 1895 in TX, and Van Buren Tinsley,
born 1907 in AR. James said they married 23 December 1928 in St. Louis, MO.
From Sandra Catiller Anderson’s online family
tree My
Family Connection: Van Buren married (2) Frederick Lincoln Catiller on 18
October 1940, also in St. Louis, MO. Neither of her marriage records has been
found in Missouri Marriage Records, 1805–2002 (Ancestry.com).
The marriage certificate of Buford Franklin
Alford, age 33 of St. Louis, and Miss Burin V. Tinsley, age 21 of Success, MO, confirms
that they married in St. Louis on 23 Dec 1928. AAFA’s Missouri marriage records
lists the marriage of Beauford Franklin Alford and Van Buren Tinsley.
Buford/Beauford Alford has not been found in any
censuses or in WWI Draft Registrations.
Vanburen Vera Catiller died in South Gate, Los
Angeles Co., CA, 19 February 1984 (California Death Index). She was born in AR
on 19 Sept 1907, mother’s maiden name Horn.
