WILL OF CHARLES ALFORD
I Charles Alford of the County of Macoupin and State of Illinois do
make and publish this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and
making void all other Wills by me at any time made--
First I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be _____ (illegible)
as soon after my death as posable, out off any money I may die possessed
of or may first come into the _____ (illegible) of my Executors.
Secondly I give and bequeath to my beloved Wife Mary Alford all my
house hold and kitchen furniture and all of my Stock She may want to
keep for her own _____ (illegible) and benefit. I also give and bequeath
to my Wife Mary Alford one half of my Real Estate to hold and to _____
(illegible) as she may see fit or she can have the land _____ (illegible)
and receive one half of all the money for which it _____ (illegible).
Thirdly I do Will that the remainder of my Estate Shall be equally
divided among all my children. I do hereby nominate and appoint Joseph
Liston of the above named County and State my Executor. In witness whereof
I do hereby set my hand and Seal this the 15th day of March 1858.

Be it Remembered that on this 22nd day of March 1858 Came before the
Clerk of the County Court in and for the County of Macoupin aforesaid
Philip F. Lightfoot and George J. Stinnett two credable persons of Lawful
age who being Sworn in due form of law on their oaths Say that they
were present at the Execution of the foregoing Written paper purporting
to be the last Will and Textament of Charles Alford now deceased and
did see him the Said Alford Sign his own name thereto as and for his
last Will &Testament and did hear his publish and declare the Same
to be his last Will and Testament and that we each at the Request of
the Said Alford and in his Presence and in the Presence of each other
Signed our own names thereto as Witnessess and that we each do hereby
believe that at the time the Said Alford did Sign and declare and publish
the foregoing written paper as and for his last Will and Testament he
the Said Alford was of Sound disposing mind and memory and further they
Say Not.

I do Solemnly Swear that this writing contains the true last Will and
Testament of the within named Charles Alford deceased So far as I Know
or believe And that I will and truly execute the Same by paying first
the debts and then the legacies mentioned therein as far as his goods
and chattles will thereunto extend and the Law charge me And that I
will make a true and perfect Inventory of all Such goods and chattles
rights -- credits and affects as may come to my Knowledge belonging
to the Estate of the Said deceased And render a fair and just account
of my Executorship when thereto required by Law to the best of my knowledge
and abilities So help me God.
