WILL OF JAMES H. HALLFORD
In the name of God amen, I James H. Halford of Barnwell District in the State
of South Carolina do make, publish and declare
this my last will and testament in manner and form following. I give, devise
and bequeath all my estate real and personal of what
nature or kind soever unto my wife Lucinda Halford for and during her life or
widowhood for her maintenance and support and
upon the death or marriage of my said wife Lucinda, I give, devise and bequeath
all my estate real and personal unto my son
James Jefferson Halford his his (sic) heirs, executors, administrators and assigns
forever.
And I do nominate, constitute and appoint my son James Jefferson Halford sole
executor of this my last will and testament. In
witness whereof I the said James H. Halford have hereunto set my hand and seal
this twenty first day of November in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven.

Signed, Sealed, declared and published, by the above named James H. Halford,
as and for his last will and testament, in the
presence of us, who, at his request, and in his presence, have subscribed our
names as witnesses thereto.

Personally appeared before me Angus (?) Patterson Esq Attorney at Law, who
being duly Sworn on the Holy Evangelity of
Almighty God, made oath and said that he saw Mr. James Hallford Sign, Seal,
publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing
Instrument of Writing to be and contain his last Will and Testament, that he
the said James Hallford was then of sound and
disposing mind memory & understanding to the best of the deponents knowledge
and belief, and that I say S. H. Butler and
James Patterson Esquire together with the deponent signed their names, as Witnesses
thereto, at the request of the Testator in
his presence, and in the presence of each other.
At the same time qualified James J. Hallford Executor. Given under my hand
this thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and forty two.
