WILL OF THOMAS ALFORD
In the Name of God Amen, I Thomas Alford of Northampton County in the Colony
of Virginia being in Perfect health and of
sound mind and memory thanks be given to Almighty God and Calling to mind the
mortality of my Body and knowing that it is
appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament
in manner and form following that is to say, first
and Principally I commit my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God, that through
the merits, Death and Passion of my Saviour
Jesus Christ I may have a full and free Pardon of all my Sins; and to Inherit
Eternal Life, and my Body I Commit to the Earth to
be Decently Buried at the Discretion of my Executrix hereafter mentioned. And
as Touching such Temporal Estate as it hath
pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me, I Give and Dispose thereof in manner
and form following.
Item I give & Bequeath unto my well beloved Wife Mary Alford my Estate
Both personal & Real during her Widowhood, and
after her Death or marriage, Then I Give & Bequeath unto my Grandson Thomas
Wells, all my Estate as abovesaid and Lastly
I nominate and appoint my Loving Wife my whole Executrix of this my last Will
& Testament whereunto as Witness Set my
hand and Seal this fifteenth Day of February 1755.
