MINNESOTA OBITUARIES OF ALFORDS

AND SPELLING VARIATIONS

Obituaries are listed alphabetically by FIRST name. Included are people whose last name, maiden name, or married name is Alford or a spelling variation: Alfred, Alvord, Allford, Halford, Hallford, Holford, etc.

The name of the newspaper (or other source) and place and date of publication follow the name of the deceased. If we included the obituary in AAFA ACTION, the issue is noted.

The Alford American Family Association (AAFA) often adds notes to each obituary, including Social Security Death Index (SSDI) data, relationship of the deceased to other Alfords, and lineages. We add to AAFA NOTES as time permits.

Where lineages are included (Alford unless otherwise stated), the format is: Name, year of birth, state or country of birth.

Obituaries of AAFA members and sometimes their spouses are also included on AAFA Member Memorials and may include more information.

We welcome corrections and additional information. If you have an obituary from this state that is not included here, please share it with us!

Preceded in death by: her parents, Henry & Anna Moser; sister, Anna Wilbur; recently (12/27/03); by her much loved husband, Edmond; and son, Richard.

Edna and Eddie had a love for each other that comes around once every couple of millennia. When Eddie died, Edna died too. It just took a few weeks for her soul to catch up to her heart. Edna spent her life being an inquisitor and an encourager and the one who who painted silver linings in grey clouds. Right now she is probably greeting old friends and new, and most likely trying to feed people. Now it’s time for us to paint those grey clouds for ourselves and others.

Profound thanks to Pastor Joy Johnson & Intern Steve Floftad for their many spiritual blessings. There are no words to adequately express gratitude to the staff & volunteers at the Pillars Hospice. Their gentle and thoughtful care will always be remembered. Dear Family & Friend, so many of you gave generous memorials in Eddie’s name and sent cards and flowers, don’t think it necessary to repeat this for Edna.

Please join Edna’s family in a celebration of a life well lived at 1PM Saturday February 7th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 436 No. Roy Street in the St. Paul Midway. Arr. The Roseville Memorial Chapel 651/631-2727

On Dec. 4, 1912, she was married to Louis C. Harris. To them one child was born, Robert, who passed away in the summer of 1924.

DAILY HERALD

Austin, Mower Co., MN—Saturday, 13 April 1929

Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur B. Reilly, who died Thursday evening after an illness of less than a week, will be held at 9:30 Monday morning at St. Augustine’s church with interment at St. Augustine’s cemetery.

Mrs. Reilly was taken ill last Friday. She grew steadily worse and Monday was taken to St. Olaf hospital for treatment of blood poisoning. Death came at 5:40 Thursday evening.

Rosella Katherine Reilly was born October 5, 1894 at Hector, Minn. In 1912 she was married to George Comford of Faribault and one daughter, Lucile, was born to this marriage. Mr. Comford met his death as the result of an accident in 1915, but his wife remained in Faribault until her marriage to Arthur Reilly, October 2, 1919. Mr. and Mrs. Reilly then came to Austin to make their home and here three daughters were born to them, Katherine 8, Shirley 6, and Helen 4.

Mrs. Reilly was a member of St. Augustine’s church and the Degree of Honor lodge. She was also active in the Whittier Mothers’ Club.

Her death came as a severe shock, not only to the immediate family but to her neighbors and many friends as she was well liked by everyone who knew her. Hearing of anyone in need, she always found time to lend a helping hand in spite of her many home duties.

Surviving, besides her husband and four daughters, are her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Judson Alvord of Sauk Rapids and three brothers and five sisters: Crynus Alvord and Mrs. Albert Frechette of St. Paul, Mrs. Henry Brunner, Frank Alvord, Fabian Alvord, and Josephine Alvord of Sauk Rapids, Mrs. Elmer Opheim of Sartell, and Mrs. Edgar Berg of Faribault.
